There are preserved sites that one can tour while visiting Browns park. In 1957 there became a need for a dam.
The government provided a town and housing for the workers of
Flaming Gorge Dam.
The dam started operation in 1963 and was dedicated in 1964 by Mrs.Lyndon B. Johnson.
The green river was named by John Wesley Powell.
He named it Green River because of the Lime deposits and other minerals seen in the river.
When the Dam was completed, the Green River became a blue ribbon trout fishery.
