Flies for July 12-14
Hey all,
I am heading to the green in the middle of July. It sounds like all three sections are fishing well. I am in the process of tying to fill the fly boxes. What flies would you not leave home without for the middle of July for the A,B and C sectioins respectively. Any info. would be great . Thanks,

Hot patterns
Posted by pstruh on 7/09/2007I have one more day to tie up a few more bugs. We'll be on the road on wednesday I can't wait. Any last second hot bugs that I should tie. The box it about full but I'm sure I could fit one or two more if there is a specific but. Thanks, pstruh

Camp sites
Posted by dutchjohn101 on 7/05/2007The sites around Jarvies are not as nice as the sites on the B section (in my opionion). They are satisfactory though. A lot of people pull fifth wheels and stay in the sites around Jarvies. The sites just below Taylor flat bridge have more shade than the sites at Indian Crossing. I think the best wade fishing in the area is right below and above the bridge or in front of Jarvies.

Section C
Posted by dutchjohn101 on 7/05/2007For me, I would fish the C section at this time of year. B would be my second choice. I enjoy fishing the the hatches (yellow salley and Pmd) more than the same old stuff on the A section. I wouldn't throw cicada's on the A section myself, but if you do, I would try a mondo cicada. There have been a few on the water though I haven't seen the fish eating them. As for the brown chernobyl, I like rootbeer or brown chenille or a yellowish orange (kind of looks like the color of a cheetoh) with peacock herl ribbed through it.

tying like crazy
Posted by pstruh on 7/05/2007Thanks for the info. on the flies I will be tying like a mad man the next few days to get ready. We plan on fishing all three sections. If you had to choose one section this time of year what would you fish. Also we arethinking of camping at the bottom of B top of C around jarvie ranch. How are the camp sites there? Is there any shade? Also when tying a brown chernobyl do you do a brown thread body or some kind of chenille? Should we try cicadas on the A? Thanks for all of your help.

Flies for mid July
Posted by dutchjohn101 on 7/04/2007A-Section. Crickets 8-12, Ants 12-16, Beatles 12-16, Brown Chernobyl 8-12.
You may see a few Yellow Sallies and PMD's. There should be some caddis around dusk. I usually fish a 12-16 elk hair caddis in Tan, Yellow, or Olive. It can be effective to skidder caddis across the riffles.
Nymphs-Ginger Wooley Bugger #6, Miracle Nymph#20, Zebra Midge in wine with a black bead 14-16. The midge larva have been about a 16 in the wine color. The Pupa are around a 16-18 in a tan to brown color. I fish a zebra in tan or brown for the pupa. There will be lots of scuds in the morning 18-26. I fish a 18-20. The fish like to eat the bigger ones best.
B-Section. Yellow Sallies should be peaking. There should be clouds of sallies around washboard (fast water 4 miles down) from mid morning to 1 or 2 in the afternoons. Wadefishing the Islands below red creek can be a lot of fun. There should be a few PMD's out still, especially if there are any clouds. There should be a few brown stones out, these are rarely seen, but they're there. There should be a few caddis out in the morning and at dusk.
Use yellow sallies 12-14, Stimulators in yellow and orange 10-12, pmd cripples or spinners 12-14, Brown Ant #8.
Nymphs-olive hare's ear 14-16, pheasant tail 14-16, tan hairs ear 12-16. You can always fish brown and wine zebra's 12-18.
The C section will be the same as the B. I like to fish a PMX in peacock or peacock/orange.
Beatles, ants, or any other terrestrial favorites should work through mid july. Keep in mind when it gets HOT fish generally slows down.
